One Heart Wild is dedicated to advancing human understanding of Trans-species Psychology and to using our knowledge of it to improve the health and well-being of our clients. Our sanctuary is not only designed for client services, but also for the needs of the non-human animals that live there. We consider advocacy for the humane treatment of animals and responsible environmental stewardship to be essential parts of our organizational mission. Our educational programs include elementary school presentations on animals and empathy, and event speaker presentations on our therapy services and educational programs, and other topics.

No, we are not, but that is an assumption people often make because of the long history of therapeutic riding, which stems back to 1969, when the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) recognized the physically therapeutic impact of riding for those with physical disabilities.
However, the therapy, counselling and personal development programs we offer have all sprung from the discoveries made in therapeutic riding more than four decades ago. Instead of riding therapy, our work is focused on the therapeutic value of social and relational experiences with horses and other animals. This science, known as Trans-species Psychology, is being employed around the world and has been shown to have remarkable potential for healing, empowering and inspiring human lives. |
