Everything in animal assisted self development is also possible within animal assisted psychotherapy. However, clients experiencing moderate or greater symptoms of PTSD, complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, self-harm, or other mental health disorders are ethically best served within an animal assisted psychotherapy relationship.
One Heart Wild's professional counselors and social workers offer traditional therapy sessions in the client lounge, non-riding animal/equine assisted therapy in the paddock or pasture and can also incorporate a combination as part of the mutually designed treatment plan.
Animal/Equine Assisted Psychotherapy clients typically work months to years on their healing journey, depending on goals and the severity of the challenges.
Animal/Equine Assisted Psychotherapy clients are often children, adults or families who have experienced significant trauma or persistent mental health challenges and the path forward is through understanding how past experiences are affecting present life so healing can begin.
